Threads is Good for Twitter. Here is Why

Just today, as you probably know, Meta launched Threads, a Twitter competitor.

Mark Zuckerberg’s first tweet today after a decade

What makes it special from other potential competitors is that Threads is directly connected to Instagram, therefore, it takes a minute to transfer all your friends directly to the text-based Twitter clone.

Twitter has 300 million monthly active users.

Instagram has 2 billion monthly active users.

This means that if Meta can transfer 15% of its Instagram active users to Threads, it will have the same size as Twitter.

15 million people already signed up for Threads in its first 7 hours.

Update: As of July 10th, about 80 million people signed up for Threads — in only 5 days following its launch.

So far, so good for Threads.

But life is never this easy and winning a game against Elon Musk can prove to be quite challenging since Elon Musk’s vision for Twitter was never a text-based discussion group.

Elon Musk always aimed for the first global super app and this will only make his leaner and his actions more Elon-Musk-like towards his ultimate goal.
