Tesla’s recent decision to share its Supercharger network with other automakers marks a significant milestone in the electric vehicle (EV) industry.

Through partnerships with prominent brands like Ford, General Motors, Rivian, Volvo, and Mercedes, Tesla is set to gain numerous advantages from this collaboration.

As these automakers adopt Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) ports, Tesla’s Superchargers will become more accessible to a wider range of EV drivers.

Let’s explore the benefits that Tesla stands to gain from sharing its Supercharger network with other automakers.

Expanding Supercharger Network Utilization

By allowing other automakers to utilize its Supercharger network, Tesla significantly increases the utilization rate of its charging infrastructure. Previously, the Supercharger network was limited to Tesla drivers, but now it will be accessible to a broader customer base.

Tesla has overall more than 17,000 superchargers in the US, which amounts to 60% of all superchargers in the country.
